Journal of the Fisheries Society of Japan No.147 Okinawa Prefecture Fisheries Survey

Location of Fishing Grounds
Favorable fishing grounds are observed two or three nautical miles offshore over an area of more than ten nautical miles between Cape Hirakubo and Cape Sakieda on Ishigaki Island, Okinawa Prefecture; two or three nautical milesoffshore over an area of more than ten nautical miles Cape Shiraho and Ibaruma on the same island; or in several locations two or three nautical milesoffshore between Funauki Port on Iriomote Island and Hatoma Island, and between Kanokawa Bay on Iriomote Island and Sakiyama Village. Although seas around Kuba Island (called Senkaku Islands on nautical charts) have yet to be sufficiently explored, good fishing grounds will surely be found little by little, since fish species come over to these coastal waters in great abundance.
