Intelligence Community of Japan and CIRO
The intelligence community of Japan consists of five core agencies and four additional entities. They conduct information collection and analysis in close collaboration with other agencies, and the Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office (CIRO) plays the central role within the community.
Our mission is to collect, integrate and analyze information concerning important policies of the Cabinet, as well as producing objective assessments. Our intelligence products are directly reported to key policymakers in the Cabinet and the Cabinet Secretariat.
The Cabinet Intelligence Committee (CIC) and the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) are established under the Cabinet to integrate intelligence collected and analyzed by intelligence agencies, and to conduct comprehensive evaluation and analysis.
