Takeshima Statement by South Korean authorities
[From Busan 29th / AP] A senior official in the Korea Coast Guard said on the 29th that "If any Japanese vessel attempts to make an incursion Takeshima, it will be repelled by force" and explained this further as follows. The Korea Coast Guard will defend Takeshima from Japanese incursion at any cost. The Korean side has established a position on Takeshima, from where any encroaching Japanese ships can be fired upon. To defend the islands from Japanese incursion, the Republic of Korea has dispatched one patrol boat and a significant number of police units to keep guard over the islands. The Republic of Korea will mercilessly bombard and sink any Japanese vessels attempting to encroach on the islands.
