"Shimane-maru," the research vessel of the Shimane Prefecture Research Institute, recently returned after completing survey of the sea near Takeshima, approximately 130 miles northwest of Hamada Port between 26th and 29th of May. According to the survey report, many Pacific Sauries spawning in the sea near Takeshima are seen. Therefore we did succeed in finding out the inhabitation of Pacific Saury. (text omitted) This confirmed the spawning season of Pacific Saury on the sea of Japan Coast, which was unknown until now. In addition, many young yellowtails are living in the sea near Takeshima, and moving with sargassum fulvellum, a sort of seaweed, floating in the sea.
