Reply in the Diet by Foreign Minister
(text omitted)
Masa NAKAYAMA (LP): - According to the newspaper report, South Korea has announced that "Takeshima belongs to South Korean territory". Has the U.S. Government notified to the Government (of Japan) of this?
Since this unilateral attitude of the South Korean side is excessive, have you any intention of requesting the U.S. side to urge South Korea not to take this attitude?
Foreign Minister: - There is no such notification to the Government of Japan (from the U.S. Government).
- There is no necessity to request to the U.S. Government. Takeshima is clearly decided as Japanese territory in the Peace Treaty, and therefore I am not concerned with, whatever any country may say.
