Utterly opposed Strong reaction from fishing industry Shimane
The "maritime declaration" made by South Korean President Rhee on the 19th has taken Japan's diplomatic circles by surprise, coming so soon before scheduled fishery talks between the two countries. But it has also evoked a strong reaction from the fishery industry in Shimane Prefecture, where there had been hopes that prewar fishery operations going as far as Korean waters could be resumed after the Peace Treaty comes into effect.
