New Oki islands (San'in Shimbun)

As notified by the Prefectural Governor, it has been decided that the islands located at 37°9'30" north latitude, 131°55' east longitude, and 85 nautical miles northwest of the Oki Islands shall be known as Takeshima and shall henceforth be placed under the jurisdiction of the Governor of the Oki Islands. They consist of two islands, each with a circumference of about 15 chō (about 1.6 km), with countless other islands scattered around them. The channel between them is said to be convenient for mooring, while grass grows on the island but no trees.
