Mr. Akazawa Ryosei, Minister in charge of Economic Revitalization, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Manuel TOVAR Rivera, Minister of Foreign Trade, and H.E. Dr. Arnoldo ANDRÉ Tinoco, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, of the Republic of Costa Rica, on April 24th, on the occasion of the Ministers’ visit to Japan.
During the meeting, Minister Akazawa welcomed the establishment of the CPTPP Accession Working Group for Costa Rica last November and emphasized the importance of striving to maintain the high standard rules and market access of the Agreement. The ministers confirmed that the two countries would continue to work closely together.
The ministers also exchanged views on other matters including efforts toward the success of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, in Japan.

Mr. Akazawa Ryosei, Minister in charge of Economic Revitalization, held a meeting with The Rt. Hon Jonathan Reynolds MP, Secretary of State for Business and Trade and President of the Board of Trade of the United Kingdom, on March 6th, on the occasion of the Secretary's visit to Japan.
Minister Akazawa welcomed the United Kingdom for becoming a Party to the CPTPP last December, and they exchanged views on topics such as accession issues, including of Costa Rica, and the General Review of the Agreement and confirmed that the two countries would continue to work closely together.
The two ministers also exchanged views on promoting Foreign Direct Investment in Japan and efforts toward the success of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

On November 27th, State Minister Seto held meetings with Ms. Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development of Canada, and Mr. Douglas Alexander, Minister of State (Minister for Trade Policy and Economic Security)of the UK during his visit to Canada to attend the 8th CPTPP Commission meeting.
They exchanged views on the response to accession requests following the UK and the importance of future development of the CPTPP through the General Review of the Agreement and confirmed that two countries would continue to work closely.

Mr. Shindo Yoshitaka, Minister in charge of Economic Revitalization, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Viet Nam, and held a meeting with Dr. Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam on July 9th during his visit to Hanoi.
They exchanged views on the response to accession requests following the UK and on future development of the CPTPP through the General Review of the Agreement and confirmed that two countries would continue to work closely.

Mr. Ibayashi Tatsunori, State Minister attended the CPTPP Ministerial Meeting hosted by Canada, in Arequipa in Peru in May 18th 2024.
State Minister Ibayashi also held meetings with Honorable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development of Canada, The Rt Hon Greg Hands, Minister for Trade Policy of the United Kingdom and Hon Tim Aures, Assistant Minister for Trade and Assistant Minister for Manufacturing of Australia about the CPTPP-related issues.
Mr. Shindo Yoshitaka, Minister in charge of Economic Revitalization held a meeting with Hon Todd McClay, Trade Minister of New Zealand in Paris in May 2nd about the CPTPP-related issues.
They exchange views on future issues related to the CPTPP. Minister Shindo stated that the trust between Japan and NZ have contributed to the development of the CPTPP and confirmed that they would continue to work closely.
Mr. Ibayashi Tatsunori, State Minister held a meeting with Mr. Alvin Tan, State Minister of Singapore during his visit to Singapore about the CPTPP-related issues.

Shindo Yoshitaka, Minister in charge of Economic Revitalization held a meeting with The Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch, Secretary of State for Business and Trade of the United Kingdom in January 15th during his visit to London.
Minister Shindo stated that Japan was the first Member that completed the domestic procedure for accession of the UK and notified it to the depositary, New Zealand in December 2023, and hoped that other Members including the UK would also finish their respective procedures in a timely manner. They also had frank discussions on various issues regarding the CPTPP and confirmed to continue to work closely.
