From July 20th to 21st, 2021, Mr. Inoue Shinji, Minister for the World Expo 2025, visited France and Portugal for the purpose of inviting to the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
In Paris, Minister Inoue held a meeting with Mr. Dimitri Kerkentzes, Director General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), explained Japan's efforts, and asked for the BIE's cooperation for other countries’ participation. Minister Inoue also held meetings with BIE government representatives from Italy, Morocco and the Czech Republic, and Mr. Pau Roca Blasco, Director General of OIV(Organisation Internationale de la vigne et du vin), to request their participation to the Osaka-Kansai Expo. Minister Inoue received positive responses from them.
In Portugal, Minister Inoue held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Augusto Ernesto Santos Silva, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Portuguese Republic. At the meeting, Minister Santos Silva confirmed Portuguese’s participation to the Expo. Minister Inoue sincerely welcomed the announcement of participation from Portugal, and confirmed its cooperation to bring about the successful Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Herewith, 49 countries and 5 international organizations have confirmed their participation to the Expo so far.
