The patrol vessel of the Sakai Coast Guard Office "Hekura" was fired upon by a South Korean fishing boat in Takeshima.
Fortunately none of the crew was injured, and the vessel itself was not badly damaged. Even so, this is a very serious problem.
On 27th of last month, the two patrol vessels Kuzuryu and Oki visited Takeshima, erected markers to make known that Takeshima is Japanese territory, and demanded 6 South Korean fishermen leave from the island. Hekura again visited Takeshima on 12th to survey the situation since then.
