Our company's 6th mother ship Takeshima Maru, with our employee Hashioka Tomojiro temporarily acting as boatman and sailor Ishida Hanjiro as crew, and loaded with rice and 15 other items, set sail from this port at 8:30 a.m. on June 24th, heading for the Takeshima fishing grounds. But as it attempted to approach the western entrance to Takeshima at about 8:30 p.m. on the 25th, heavy rain made it impossible to judge short distances, so that the ship was unable to land on the island and could not stop because of a headwind. It therefore headed for Utsuryo Island (Ulleungdo) and entered Dodong Port after 5 p.m. on the 26th, loaded drinking water and oil, etc.
