3. Guard of Territorial Waters
(1) Guard of Territorial Waters around the Senkaku Islands
The patrol (of the territorial waters around the Senkaku Islands) was conducted not only by patrol vessels and aircraft belonging to this Headquarters but also by 13 patrol vessels sent from other Headquarters. They conducted on-board inspections of Taiwanese boats intruding (into the territorial waters) to engage in longline fisheries, etc., obtained written confirmation of locations and pledges, and evict those boats. The purpose of illegal landings was to collect medicinal plants, birds' eggs, etc.
