Content | A Mackerel Fishing Ground Survey and Ocean Survey (conducted "mackerel pole-and-line fishing with luring light" in coastal waters of the west of Uotsuri Island in the Senkaku Islands in April 1964, and reported the state of fishing and observation results) and a Deep Sea Pole-and-Line Fishing Ground Survey Report (July-August 1963, conducted a deep sea pole-and-line fishing ground survey in seas of the west of Kume Island and coastal waters of Taisho Island [Sekibisho] and Yonaguni Island in July - August 1963, and reported the state of fishing there). Although mackerel fisheries had already been discontinued in Okinawa, the report states that the survey was conducted, and that the Institute gathered data and information of fishing grounds and state of fishing in order to make a future plan (to see a prospect). The deep sea pole-and-line fishing survey was conducted with the aim of opening up new fishing grounds. The map of the fishing grounds on the spread page of the page 60 shows mackerel fishing grounds at the survey, indicating that at least three, at most eleven mackerel fishing boats were operating in the vicinity of the fishing ground and making good catches every night. The photo at the upper left of the page 61 shows an mackerel stick-held dip net ship from the mainland of Japan engaged in a fishing ground search in coastal waters of the Senkaku Islands. |
