3 Koga Tatsushiro develops the Senkaku Islands.

Koga Tatsushiro, the third son of Koga Monjiro, was born on January 18, 1856 in Yamada Village, Kozuma County, Fukuoka Prefecture. With an amiable disposition, an upright attitude and a thriving interest in maritime affairs from an early age, he moved to this prefecture in 1879. He quickly set to work collecting and harvesting marine products, and single-mindledly applied himself to the progress and development of the prefecture's fishery industry. In doing so, he made a tremendous contribution to enhancing the well-being of the prefecture's citizens. In 1884, he took on numerous risks and invested much capital in exploring the Senkaku Islands and uninhabited islands. Recognizing the potential for industry there, he invested huge sums of money and worked diligently on his business for more than 20 years.
