Translation of the Official Letter No. 35 from the Consulate of the Republic of China in Nagasaki

(text ommited) You have sent one copy from each list of the names of Guo Heshun and 30 other fishermen, who met with disaster at sea from Huian County, Fujian Province, along with the names of those who took part in the rescue effort there. On investigation, these fishermen and others were suffering from hunger and cold, when they met with disaster at sea. They were aided by the enthusiastic rescue work of the head of Ishigaki Village and others, and shelter and food were given at public expense by the village office, and the 31 people were able to return safely to their homeland. Not only that the 31 people, who were deeply indepted for such favor, can not forget to feel that goodness, but also I, the Consul, deeply admire for the rescue and the goodness. As we have requested of the Legation at Tokyo to send money to us for 200 Japanese Yen to donate to the Ishigaki village office's charity fund in order to recompense for the rescue and the goodness (by Ishigaki village) with its normal compassion for neighbors. In addition, I (as a consul) would like to express my gratitude and honor their good deed by sending a letter of appreciation to each individual who involved in the rescue effort. I hereby send you 200 Yen and 7 letters of appreciation above mentioned. I would appreciate it if you could receive them and forward to the Ishigaki village office. Also, I would be grateful if you could kindly send the receipt to the Consulate without delay.
 Respectfully
 May 22, 1920
Feng, Consul of the Republic of China in Nagasaki
To the Governor of Okinawa Prefecture
