Privacy Policy for the Cabinet Secretariat Website
1. Basic premise
The Cabinet Public Relations Office of the Cabinet Secretariat (hereinafter referred to as the “Office”) collects information from users of the Cabinet Secretariat’s website (hereinafter referred to as the “Site”) to the extent necessary for the smooth operation of the services provided on the Site (including provision of information on the Site, distribution of information about the Site, and receiving of feedback). The information collected is handled with caution and used only within the scope of its intended purpose.
2. Scope of information to be collected
(1) The Site automatically collects Internet domain names, IP addresses, international mobile equipment identities (IMEI; only if provided via the “Contact Us” section, which is not currently available), and other information related to the browsing of this Site. Cookies (information sent from the server to the user’s browser and stored on the user’s computer in order for the server to identify the user) are not used for any purpose other than to accurately determine the access count and to improve the convenience of browser display functions.
(2) If users send a direct inquiry to our e-mail address, the user’s e-mail address will be collected.
3. Intended purpose
(1) The information collected in 2. (1) is used as reference for the smooth operation of the services provided by the Site.
(2) The e-mail addresses collected in 2. (2) will be used when we send replies.
4. Restriction on use and provision
The Office will not use or provide the collected information to a third party for any purpose other than the intended purpose described in 3, except in cases when its disclosure is requested pursuant to laws and regulations, or when there are special reasons requiring its disclosure including unlawful acts such as unauthorized access and threats. Statistically processed data on Site access, User attributes, or other information may be disclosed.
5. Safety measures
The Office takes the necessary measures to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of the collected information and to otherwise appropriately manage the collected information.
6. Scope of application
This privacy policy applies only to the Site. Responsibility for the handling of information by relevant ministries and agencies lies with the respective organizations. For the privacy policies of social media and other services used on the Site, please refer to the websites of the respective service providers.
