Content | The directive issued to the Government of Japan by the General Headquarters, Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers (GHQ/SCAP), which revised the limitation on fishing grounds of the operation of Japanese fishing ships (the so-called MacArthur Line stipulated on September 27, 1945). This directive placed Takeshima outside the MacArthur Line and prohibited Japanese ships and their crews from approaching within 12 nautical miles of Takeshima and Takeshima itself. However, the fifth item in the directive clearly states that the directive is not the final decision on the national boarder and the fishery right of Japan. |
