*Overview of monthly fishing states
March 1962
Fishing grounds are concentrated in seas west of Uotsuri Island "W", formed with two fishing grounds; one around 18'-20' west of the island and another 140'-150' west of that.
Fishing states are fairly lively, with some 38,000kg being caught in one navigation (one operation for 7-10 days). Fish shoals are quite densely, and frequently to see their surfacing.

Content | A survey on the state of mackerel pole-and-line fishing with luring light in the East China Sea by Kagoshima Prefecture Fisheries Research Institute (November 1961 - June 1962). The result is based on the survey in the Central Wholesale Market of Kagoshima City (73 times) and the survey by boats entered the Kagoshima port (62 boats). According to the report, the fishing ground of mackerel can be roughly classified into two areas; the area around the Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Zone No. 534 and the area around Uotsuri Island (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Zone No. 539) in the Senkaku Islands, and the fishing operations were conducted intensively from February to June in 1962 as the mackerel crowded in the same sea area. A table of fishing condition near Uotsuri Island is attached. |
