Seeking Maritime Peace based on the Rule of Law, not Force or Coercion

1. States should make and clarify their claims based on international law
2. States should not use force or coercion in trying to drive their claims
3. States should seek to settle disputes by peaceful means
The "Three Principles of the rule of law at sea" proposed by Japan have been supported by governments and media all over the world.
Japan continues to place great importance on the Japan-China relationship, which is one of the most important bilateral relationships for Japan. The stable development of Japan-China relations will benefit not only the peoples of both countries, but also the region and the international community. Japan will continue to promote "the Mutually Beneficial Relationship based on Common Strategic Interests" with China from this broad perspective.
