Our museum will be temporarily closed for renovation and a temporary exhibition gallery will be open in the same building.

A special exhibition titled “Drawing Japan: Changing Perceptions of the Japan islands and surrounding maritime areas in the Edo and early Meiji periods.” will be held from 6th February through 14th April, 2024.

Special event titled “Let’s Learn about History of the Japanese Territory by Collecting Stickers!” from the 1^st through the 30^th of November.

A special exhibition titled “Let's Look into jobs protecting Japanese Islands, sea, and sky” will be held from 25^th July through 24^th September, 2023.

6^th January, 2023

A special exhibition titled “The Japanese Frontier in the Meiji Era - the dawn of modern Japan and the incorporation of its outlying islands into its territory” will be held from 24^th January through 9^th April, 2023.

A special exhibition titled “Short-tailed Albatross : a miracle bird flying around the world” will be held from 26^th July through 25^th September, 2022.
A family event titled "Let's play and learn about Japanese territories" will also be held at the same time.

Special Exhibition titled “Castaways and the history of Japanese territory: the stories of the people who cast ashore on the Japanese outlying islands” will be held from 8^th March through 8^th May,2022.
