Article on Mr Koga's development of the Senkaku Islands (Ryukyu Shimpo)

Problems in developing Yaeyama

Yaeyama County occupies about a third of the 136 square ri (= approx. 2,100km²) in this prefecture's administrative area. Developing this will be of tremendous significance, not only in terms of the prefecture's economy but also for the sake of the national interest.
An example of this is the Senkaku Islands under Mr Koga's management. In these islands, he has successfully provided the state with more than 100,000 yen in profit every year, and forecasts still further growth in future. For these achievements, the proprietor Mr Koga has been decorated with the Blue Ribbon Medal of Honor. Besides this, everyone who has toured the area, without exception, speaks of the abundance of profit to be gained from development.
