Fishing boats cast ashore on the Senkaku Islands
The following letter received from Koga Tatsushiro

(omitted)

In around late February this year, a number of persons from Miyako (number unknown) prepared three fishing boats and set off to go fishing, but were caught in a storm, lost their bearings and drifted at sea for some tens of days. One of the boats just managed to arrive safely at Yaeyama, but there is a rumor that the other two boats went missing.

Today, a telegram arrived from our Yaeyama Branch saying that Miyako people had washed ashore in the Senkaku Islands, which we are currently developing, and were sent to the Yaeyama Branch for protection, accompanied by our office workers.
